Morticia - Black Vulture
Morticia came to the rescue in July 2016 with a congenital defect in her beak called scissor beak. As you can see from her photo, her beak doesn't align properly and she is unable to rip and tear food properly. She is a highly intelligent bird and will be an excellent Ambassador and permanent resident of Wild Bird Rescue.
Max - Kestrel Falcon
Max was brought to the rescue in July 2016 before he could fly and during rehabilitation staffers noticed that he was unable to stand up properly on perches. This is probably due to a neurological or inner ear malady and he is unable to be released back into the wild. He will remain at the rescue as an Ambassador.
Willow - Swainson's Hawk
Willow came to the rescue in September 2010 with a broken wrist that was pinned but didn't heal properly. He was unable to fly well enough to keep up with other Swainson's Hawks so he remained at the rescue and was moved in the Ambassador program.
Akila - Red-Tailed Hawk
Akila was one of our beloved Avian Ambassadors from 2013-2020. She came to the rescue in June 2013 with a broken right elbow that had already healed incorrectly. She is greatly missed.
Lindsay - Barred Owl
Lindsay was injured in 2011 near Austin, Texas and had severe head trauma. Veterinarians determined that she had luxated lens in one eye and a detached retina in the other eye. She is unable to live and hunt in the wild due to her limited vision and she is a permanent resident and Ambassador.
Sparticus - Red-Tailed Hawk
Sparticus came to the rescue in July 2013 emaciated with a broken right wing at the elbow that had already healed incorrectly. His wing wasn't able to be repaired and he is unable to fly and return to the wild so he is an Ambassador and permanent resident.
Banshee - Barn Owl
Banshee came to the rescue as a chick along with his seven other siblings. They had been thrown out of a deer blind by a hunter. Luckily they were rescued and after several months of rehabilitation it was determined that Banshee had received head trauma from his fall off the deer blind. He has bad depth perception and cannot see exactly how far away objects are and has trouble landing accurately. He will remain a permanent resident and Ambassador.
